This Gothic masterpiece spans the Vltava River and connects the Old Town and Lesser Town neighborhoods of Prague.
The construction of the Charles Bridge began in 1357 by King Charles IV and was completed in the early 15th century. The bridge is made of sandstone and is 516 meters long, supported by 16 arches. It features a total of 30 statues and statuaries along the balustrade, which were added to the bridge in the 17th and 18th centuries. These statues and statuaries represent various saints and historical figures.
One of the most famous statues on the bridge is the statue of St. John of Nepomuk, which is located on the south side of the bridge. According to legend, touching the statue will bring good luck and ensure a return trip to Prague.
